Privacy Policy — Islamic Prayer Companion Application
This Privacy Policy describes how BeaKon ("the Application," "we," "us") collects, uses, and handles information in connection with your use of the BeaKon mobile application available on Google Play. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This document sets out our practices in clear and plain language.
By installing or using the Application, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the Application.
The Application is designed to operate with minimal data collection. We collect only what is strictly necessary to provide core functionality.
Location Data (Optional). With your explicit permission, the Application accesses your device's GPS coordinates once per session for the sole purpose of determining your city or locality to calculate accurate Islamic prayer times and Qibla direction. This data is processed entirely on your device. It is not transmitted to any server, stored in the cloud, or shared with any third party. You may alternatively enter your city manually at any time, in which case no location data is accessed.
Application Preferences (Stored Locally). The Application stores your selected city, language preference, notification settings, prayer completion records, and Tasbeeh (dhikr counter) history on your device using Android's encrypted on-device storage (EncryptedSharedPreferences). This data does not leave your device under any circumstances.
The Application does not collect, transmit, or process any of the following:
The Application contains no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or telemetry libraries of any kind in its current version.
Location data, when provided, is used exclusively to perform on-device prayer time calculations using the open-source adhan.js library. No location data is retained after the calculation is completed unless you choose to save your city preference, which is stored only on your device. We do not use any collected information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the Application.
The current version of the Application does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data processing services. Prayer times are calculated entirely on-device. Should any third-party services be introduced in future versions, this Privacy Policy will be updated prior to their integration, and users will be notified via an in-app notice upon next launch.
The Application is designed to be suitable for users of all ages, including minors. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13. Given that no personal data is collected from any user regardless of age, the Application inherently satisfies the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A manual city entry option is always available, ensuring no location data is ever required for the Application to function.
For users in the European Union or European Economic Area, the legal basis for processing location data is your explicit consent, provided at the time you choose to use the "Auto-Detect Location" feature. You may withdraw consent at any time by switching to manual city entry in the Application's Settings. No personal data is transferred outside your device, and accordingly no cross-border data transfer mechanisms under Chapter V of the GDPR are engaged.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for commercial purposes. California residents retain all rights provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act. As no personal information is collected or retained externally, there is no data to access, correct, delete, or opt out of selling.
All application data is stored exclusively on your device. Uninstalling the Application will permanently delete all data associated with it. You may also clear all application data at any time via your device's Settings by navigating to Applications, selecting BeaKon, and choosing Clear Data. No data is retained by us following deletion.
Data stored by the Application is protected by Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences, which applies AES-256 encryption to stored data at rest. As the Application does not transmit any data over a network, there are no transmission-related security risks. We take reasonable technical measures to protect data stored on device; however, the security of your device itself is outside our control.
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. If material changes are made, we will provide notice via an in-app notification displayed on next launch before the updated policy takes effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be revised accordingly. Your continued use of the Application following notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
